ONCE Tupperware parties were all the craze. Now two York women have launched parties to sell their own and other local craftspeople’s handmade gifts.

After trialling their home party service, jeweller Jo Bagshaw, of Heslington, and textile designer Rebecca Stoner are officially launching “Gifted” parties at The Design House interior designer business in Main Street, Fulford, on October 6.

Gifts can also be commissioned and orders placed for events such as birthdays, weddings and special anniversaries.

Jo and Rebecca are also offering a broad selection of jewellery, ceramics, textiles, paintings and handmade cards.

In the run-up to the launch, both women have enjoyed individual success. Rebecca has been commissioned to create large scale public artworks for York Hospital, The Art House and a luxury yacht company. Her work has also featured in ITV’s The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl”.

Jo designed Miss York 2005’s crown, her work has featured in the book New Directions In Jewellery and she is regularly commissioned to create bespoke pieces for clients and exhibitions throughout the UK.

Rebecca said: “Handmade is the operative word. In our experimental gift parties we got a wonderfully positive response.

“People thought that it was a really good idea. They organise the party at home and we organise the gifts and bring a bottle of wine.

“We are hoping that people see this as a great way of getting unusual gifts for Christmas – and socialising at the same time.”

The launch takes place between 6pm and 9pm.
