THOUSANDS of pounds-worth of investment in new equipment has meant an Easter choc-full of profits and high hopes for a York chocolatier.

With a grant of £9,427 from the Rural Development Programme for England, Linda Barrie, of Choc Affair, has been able to increase both the quantity and variety of her production for retailers, farm shops, delis and hotels.

It has also meant taking on a new business partner, recruiting a third full-time member of staff to join her three part-time packers and moving out of a converted garage at her Naburn home into a new 1,600 sq ft workshop directly opposite.

Linda said: “I have built the solid foundations, brick by brick, now the business is really taking off. I'll be joined next month by my new business partner, Ian Dickons, who will use 20 years’ experience in retail to boost sales to a whole new level.”
