HIS normal domain may be legal matters - but Paul Berwin is equally at home in rougher terrain as long as there is a good cause involved.
The 51-year-old managing partner of Harrogate-based law firm Berwins is a relentless triathlon competitor and has just finished his 17th event since 2001.
He took part in the Wetherby triathlon last weekend, which saw him plunge into the River Wharfe for a 1,500-metre swim, cycle 40km from Wetherby to Boroughbridge and back and then run 10km from Wetherby to Spofforth.
Mr Berwin expects to raise more than £2,000 from the event, which will be split between Harrogate Community House and British Wizo, a charity which provides help for disadvantaged women and children in Israel.
"It's all about muscle and testosterone," he said.
"I'm still recovering from the Wetherby triathlon, but doing OK. I did the race in five minutes less than the same course last year, but still two minutes over my three-hour barrier.
"I have two more triathlons booked for this year and will also be running the Leeds Half Marathon along with a team from Berwins."
Mr Berwin has now raised around £34,000 for charity in the last six years through his exhausting efforts.
