The Duke of York is on a five-day tour of south-east Asia promoting the interests of British businesses.

Prince Andrew will visit the city-state of Singapore followed by a trip to nearby Malaysia in his role as the UK's Special Representative For International Trade And Development.

Both countries are economic success stories with strong cultural and financial ties with the Britain.

The Duke, who has visited the region a number of times during the last five years, said: "I am looking forward to my return to Singapore, which demonstrates the close ties and working relationship our two countries enjoy."

He will visit the city-state's reclaimed Jurong Island, home to refineries, petro-chemical plants and other industries, to see major British investments at the site. After two days in Singapore, the Duke travels to Malaysia to attend celebrations to mark the country's 50th anniversary of independence. During his three-day tour, he will also visit the manufacturing plant of Dyson, the vacuum cleaner company.
