THE SKILLS of York's finest craftsmen and women have been recognised during an annual ceremony.

The York Guild of Building Craftsmanship Awards 2016 were handed out at Bedern Hall to celebrate work across the city.

Sculptor Dick Reid was presented with The Master's Award for his work at the newly revamped York Art Gallery.

Mr Reid used precision and skill to re-mould and re-sculpt the Victorian Italian granite heads in the refurbished attraction.

Awards were also handed out for Individual Craftsmanship, Individual Brickwork and Team Merit for work including the re-roofing of St Williams College, repairs to the oak framed structure at Walmgate Bar and repairs to the nave, vestry and bell turret at St Martins Church, in Fangfoss.
