A BUS industry professional with almost 30 years in the sector has been appointed operations director for local bus operator, Stagecoach North East.

Colin Newbury, 51, from Selby, has taken up the new position based at the company’s headquarters in Sunderland, following 28 years with bus operator, Arriva Yorkshire.

In his previous role as operations director with Arriva, Mr Newbury supervised the operations for five depots across Yorkshire, where he was responsible for more than 850 employees, a fleet of more than 320 buses and managed a budget of more than £50million.

As operations director for Stagecoach North East, Mr Newbury will manage a team of more than 1600 staff across the company’s six depots throughout the north east.

Mr Newbury began his career in the UK bus industry with Arriva Yorkshire in 1987 as a PCV driver and has worked his way up the corporate ladder, progressing from operations supervisor to depot manager before taking up the roles of assistant area manager, commercial development manager and general manager at various depots in Yorkshire.

YORK regenerative medical device company Tissue Regenix has appointed Jonathan Glenn as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Mr Glenn has been chief executive officer at Consort Medical plc since December 2007, having originally joined the company in September 2006 as chief financial officer.

Prior to joining Consort Medical, he held a number of senior financial roles across the medical industry including Akubio Ltd between 2005 and2006 and the Celltech Group plc between 1998 and 2005.

RACHEL Robinson has joined the residential property team at Newton Solicitors head office in Knaresborough as a senior associate solicitor.

After training at the College of Law in York, Ms Robinson, who lives in Harrogate, gained a degree in psychology at Loughborough University and completed her training contract with Cheshire County Council.

She qualified in 1998 and has focussed on residential property since 2001, specialising in leasehold transactions, including enfranchisement work. She joins from Berwins Solicitors in Harrogate, where she was also a senior associate and her appointment takes the Newton Solicitors residential property team to 18 solicitors.
