GROWING specialist accounting firm Minford Chartered Accountants has appointed Graham Garbett as director.

York-based Minford provides business advice and accountancy services to a wide range of clients, in particular to dental practitioners.

Mr Gargett has more than 20 years experience advising small businesses in Yorkshire and the North East.

Johnny Minford, managing director, said: "Graham’s business advisory skills and experience in corporate finance will consolidate the Minford offering to our clients and will help us manage our drive for further growth, both organically and through acquisitions of complimentary business."

NATIONAL property consultant Carter Jonas has appointed Kate Brown to head up its new residential lettings agency at its York office in Micklegate.

The appointment comes as York continues to experience one of the highest rental growths in the UK.

An experienced valuer who has worked in property for four years, Ms Brown joins Carter Jonas as lettings manager from Coalters Estate and Letting Agents where she was assistant letting manager.

Born and bred in York, she will advise clients on all types of properties from city centre apartments to detached family homes.

YORK accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott has cemented its expansion plans with a dozen new appointments since the beginning of the year.

A variety of roles have been filled across multiple departments including three within the wealth management team.

Owen Thomas joined the firm as financial consultant in April, employee benefits consultant Susan Andrews also arrived in April and Sarah Coldwell was appointed client services co-ordinator in July.

Other appointments at the firm have included accounts senior, corporate finance analyst, Sage and Xero trainer, personal tax assistant manager, payroll executive, marketing assistant, personal assistant and two graduate trainees.

Garbutt + Elliott was established in York over 150 years ago. Today, the firm has offices in York and Leeds and employs more than 100 people, including eight partners.
