A CONFERENCE dedicated to York's digital industry is returning for a second year next month.

After its inaugural, sell-out event last year, DotYork is back in a bid to once again bring together the creative community from around the UK to explore the latest thinking in design, development, art and technology.

Taking place on April 9, the conference will feature ten talks to an audience of more than 300 in the Grand Opera House, York.

DotYork organiser Rick Chadwick said: "It’s an exciting time to be a creative right now.

"We hope that DotYork helps to raise the profile of web and digital culture in the North by bringing people here from all over the country to hear from leading names in the sector and would encourage those attending to stay for a long weekend in the city."

Organisers are hoping to build upon York's recently-acquired award status as the UK's first UNESCO City of Media Arts, with the creative industries now worth £8 million an hour to the UK.

DotYork is aimed at anyone who is, or wants to be, involved in making content for the web.

The event features a line-up of ten speakers, including BAFTA award-winning digital artist Seb Lee-Delisle, covering topics from design and development to innovation and user experience.

There will also be two workshops held as fringe events on April 8.

DotYork is supported by York-based agencies Anaplan, Bytemark, Isotoma, and York Data Services as well as publisher Five Simple Steps and e-commerce platform Shopify.
