PLANS to create a digital arts centre within York’s Guildhall are moving forward as the project is identified as being “ready for delivery” by funders.
The Guildhall proposal was among six schemes discussed yesterday by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Investment Committee.
The committee met to consider how it would allocate part of an additional £55m awarded to the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) in January as part of the government’s Growth Deals.
The combined authority had agreed to invest £14m in housing and regeneration schemes, and yesterday identified six proposals, including the Guildhall, as being “ready for delivery in the next 12 to 18 months.”
The sites, which also include Barnsley town centre, Bath Road remediation in Leeds, Bradford/Shipley Canal Road Corridor, Castleford Growth Corridor, and Pioneer House in Dewsbury, have been put forward to create a “rolling programme of investment projects” across the Leeds City Region.
