A COMPANY which owns a string of dining pubs across North Yorkshire has opened the doors to its first hotel following a multi-million pound investment.

West Park is Harrogate's newest hotel, restaurant and bar, and has created 45 jobs in the town as it opened following an 18-month refurbishment project.

The former Victorian coach house has been transformed into 25 bedrooms and suites, one of which has been specifically named Le Grand Depart to commemorate the international race which passed through Harrogate in July.

The hotel is owned by the Provenance Inns group, the portfolio of which includes The Carpenters Arms in Felixkirk, The Oak Tree in Helperby, The Crown and Cushion in Welburn, The Black Bull in Moulton, The Punch Bowl in Marton Cum Grafton, and The Durham Ox in Crayke.

Michael Ibbotson, managing director of the West Park, said: "We began the multi-million pound refurbishment over eighteen months ago and we’re thrilled that we’re now finally ready to open the doors to the public.

"West Park has been transformed into a stunning bar and restaurant for local people and as with all our Provenance Inns the emphasis is on sourcing only the best local produce, West Park will be no exception.

"The hotel’s interior design is to the highest specification and we’re really delighted with the hard work that has gone into creating a contemporary yet comfortable hotel, restaurant and bar in which to dine, drink and stay."

The Brunswick Suite also plays another historical part in the heritage of Harrogate as it was the name of the first train station which was located near to the hotel in the 1800’s.
