A COACH tour operator which is one of Yorkshire's oldest travel firms is marking its 65th anniversary with a an open day.

On Saturday Eddie Brown Tours is inviting customers old and new to its travel centre in Thorp Arch.

Following investment in the company earlier this year, Eddie Brown Tours is looking ahead to the Winter season with a new brochure of short breaks and scenic tours.

Travel Services Manager Karen Hobus said: "We are delighted to be holding one of our popular Brochure Launches again, and this will be the first from our Travel Centre here at Thorp Arch."

Eddie Brown Tours was established in 1949 when Eddie and the late Gwen Brown began their "Quality Coach Operation" in the Blacksmiths Shop in Helperby.

The company is now run by the second generation of the Browns, their daughter Deirdre and co-director Philip, employing more than 60 staff and housing a fleet of 50 vehicles at its base at Thorp Arch.
