A NORTH Yorkshire firm specialising in power generators has been chosen as the preferred supplier by two subsidiaries of the UK's largest steel-tube stockholder.

Cleveland Steel & Tubes and Steel Beams & Columns, both of which are part of Hambleton Holdings, have signed Yorkshire Generators to supply their power.

The firm, which has its head office in Thirsk and depot in Boroughbridge, has supplied and installed two 100 kVA acoustic generators to power a new load and drop facility on a 50 acre site at the Dalton Industrial Estate, near Thirsk.

The facility is being developed by Hambleton Holdings following an increased demand for steel beams and columns as the construction industry shows signs of recovery.

As well as installation, Yorkshire Generators will also be responsible for on site maintenance and servicing of the generators which will be powering two heavy duty overhead gantry cranes, each with a 10 tonne lifting capacity.

Managing director of Yorkshire Generators, Richard Ogden, says he is encouraged by the recent growth seen in the construction industry which is having a positive knock-on effect on his own businesses.

Yorkshire Generators has been trading for seven years and is accredited gold standard dealers for SDMO Energy Ltd covering the North of England.

Roy Fishwick, managing director of Steel Beams & Columns Ltd, said that the support from Yorkshire Generators comes at a time of expansion for the firm.

He said: “We’re investing in a new lift and load facility as a more efficient way of handling steel stock and because we are confident that growth in the construction sector is set to continue.”
