THE University of York’s newest bistro has partnered with a York business to offer students a healthy dessert option.

Andrew Wood from the Alcuin Bistro at the University’s North campus has stocked Yoryog – a new frozen yoghurt brand produced by Acaster Malbis-based ice cream manufacturer Yorvale.

Mr Wood said: “I chose Yoryog as Yorvale is a local company and its quality is excellent.

“Although we haven’t had any really warm weather since opening, I’ve been very encouraged with its rate of sale.

“As a university, we are keen to support local suppliers, sustainability and healthy eating within our remit.”

Yorvale director Lesley Buxton said: “We’re proud that Andrew chose Yoryog for his bistro. We launched Yoryog to appeal to younger, health conscious consumers who don’t want to compromise on taste and for whom provenance is also important.” so we’re delighted that it’s doing well.”

Yoryog is made from yogurt that is produced on the business’s farm by mixing milk with a lactobacillus culture. This culture is then mixed with natural flavours to make a frozen dessert.
