A BIKE shop near York has celebrated its first year in business with an open day for the public.

Isle Of Bikes, in Acaster Malbis, is run by Dom Hammond and Jake Hamm, and held the event on Saturday.

The pair said the event was a chance " to say thank you to all of those who have supported us, getting us up and running and becoming a reputable cycle workshop", and saw regular customers and members of the public visit the shop throughout the day.

Dom and Jake said: "We wanted people to join us in the workshop to get a taste of what we are about.

"With various DJ's playing and York Brewery's latest cycle based ale 'Velo-city' being available, it made out for a very special day. Cyclists from all denominations joined them for what will become a monthly event due to the success and feedback from all who attended."

Isle of Bikes is a workshop which provides services from basic repairs and servicing to major rebuilds, refurbishments, frame repairs and component adaptations, with a range of new and refurbished bikes available.
