YORK is to be the home of a new legal office as a Hull law firm expands into the city.

Andrew Jackson solicitors, which also has an office in Grimsby, is opening a new office at The Innovation Centre, within the University of York’s Science Park.

The office will be led by a new partner with the firm James Hodgson, an intellectual property law specialist who has lived and worked in York for several years.

He will be assisted by commercial litigation solicitor Andrew Robson, who, along with Mr Hodgson, joins the firm from BHP Law.

The pair will be supported by a number of Andrew Jackson’s partners including Richard Hoare, head of private client services and Paul Barker, head of property at the law firm.

Established in 1874, Andrew Jackson employs more than 100 staff including 24 partners.

Andrew Jackson’s managing partner, Mark Pearson-Kendall, who will be leading the firm’s corporate services in York, said that opening an office in the city was part of the firm’s strategy to grow the practice within Yorkshire.

He said: “This is a very exciting time for Andrew Jackson.

“Our new office in York not only provides us with a springboard from which to deliver our full range of legal services in the York area but also enables James and Andrew to develop further their excellent work for clients in the region.

“We are delighted that James and Andrew have chosen to join Andrew Jackson, which is testament to the high regard in which we are held.”

Mr Hodgson said: “Andy and I are delighted to join Andrew Jackson as it undertakes this exciting development.

“York is a vibrant city and an ideal base from which to grow the firm’s practice in North and East Yorkshire.”
