A NATIONAL construction firm has seen its York workforce grow tenfold and generate £15 million turnover in its first year of operation.

Celebrating its first anniversary, Lindum York opened for business in Blossom Street in September last year with business manager Neil Coote as the only full time member of staff.

Now with a team of more than 10 local employees the business is growing as it wins contracts for a number of high profile construction projects.

David Chambers, Lindum Group chairman, said: “To have our York office up and running, with exceptional people joining our team, who are all committed to delivering excellent customer service is very rewarding and reaffirms our decision to invest in York.”

Mr Coote added: “It’s great to be part of such an excellent team which we have brought together over the last 12 months.

“The wealth of experience and knowledge, along with the excellent network of approved local suppliers, has allowed us to win and deliver work to the high quality, deadline and budgets we commit to.

“We are currently looking to recruit a Design & Build Co-ordinator to the team and are confident that, as our workload continues to grow so will the local employment opportunities we create and business for our York suppliers and subcontractors.”

Projects currently under construction by Lindum include the redevelopment of the Grade II listed Bonding Warehouse on the River Ouse for Grantside Ltd and Lindum has been awarded the contract for the development of the northern end of York Racecourse.
