10:35am Monday 4th February 2013 in Business news
BUSINESSES are invited to discuss their future with City of York Council at two free events to be held at the Mansion House tomorrow.
At a business breakfast, hosted by the council, 14 funding organisations, will advise business owners, finance directors, start-ups and social enterprises on finding finance.
Money Talks In York will feature SCY, formerly Science City York, the Local Enterprise Partnerships of Leeds City Region and York, North Yorkshire and East Riding, the Manufacturing Advisory Service and the National Metals Technology Centre, who have training and consultancy grants available.
There will also be grant, loan, equity and venture capital providers to give advice on growing business with opportunities from business grants, loan, equity funding and crowdfunding.
There will be a particular focus on digital and creative, commerce, manufacturing and engineering sectors, but all are welcome.
In the evening, a consultation for businesses on the City of York Council budget will be held to seek businesses’ views, ideas, concerns and priorities as the council finalises its 2014/15 budget following cuts from central government which mean the council must make savings of more than £9 million in 2013/14 and £12 million in 2014/15.
The event, from 5pm to 7pm, will also outline the budget-setting process and the challenges and opportunities faced in delivering it.
Representations can be made by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, Twitter @CityofYork or Facebook.
