Wheldrake haulage firm could expand
11:06am Tuesday 1st January 2013 in Business news
A HAULAGE firm could be allowed to expand at a site in a village near York despite objections from local residents. T and T A Park, which is based in Wheldrake, has applied for permission to extend its workshop and base up to 24 heavy goods vehicles and 35 trailers at its Low Well Farm site in Crockey Hill Road.
The business is currently allowed to have 12 vehicles and 24 trailers there. Its application will go before City of York Council’s east area planning sub-committee on Thursday and has been recommended for approval. Wheldrake Parish Council has objected to the proposals, saying it was concerned about “significant expansion” of the business within green belt land and road access arrangements, but council planners have said it would “support economic growth” and would not have a major impact on the surrounding countryside.
