TANCRED Farm Shop is a family run farm shop, which opened in November 2011 with a mission to inspire more people to buy and cook using locally grown produce with a short field to fork distance.

Dean Hullah, owner of Tancred Farm Shop, a second generation pig farmer, founded the business after identifying a need to supply local customers and businesses with home reared meat and local produce at a reasonable price.

He is now entering the business, which employs a team of six, for the Family Business of the Year and Retailer of the Year titles.

Mr Hullah said: "All our pork is born on the farm and our pork and Lincoln Red grass fed beef is reared here on the farm.

"We even make the food our pigs eat to our own special recipes ensuring we can provide the highest quality pork to the public.

"We create more than 40 varieties of homemade sausages and also supply a range of other meats and homemade produce."

The farm shop includes a butchery, as well as a coffee shop.

The business's strategy is to drive community involvement through attending local Farmers’ Markets in York, Leeds and Chapel Allerton and local events including Tockwith show, the Great Yorkshire Show and the Yorkshire Heart Festival.
