A YORK coaching company which has trained police forces around the world is growing its export and domestic services.

Founded in 2006 by former public servant Tod O'Brien, 2B Leadership and Diversity is hoping to impress the Press Business Awards judges in the Small Business of the Year and Dare to Export categories.

Mr O'Brien, who is a leadership consultant specialising in leadership, diversity and executive coaching in the public and private sectors, has delivered what he describes as substantial and sustainable change, and significant cashable savings for police services, businesses and the UK and overseas governments.

To date the company has maintained repeat business in UK with clients including the Associated British Ports, Mersey Rail, Kingspan, The Learning Skills Improvement Service, British Transport Police, The NHS and others.

Internationally 2B Leadership and Diversity, which is based Strensall, has worked with The College of Policing and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, El Salvador in South America and the Caribbean; Namibia, Kenya, Lesotho and Rwanda in Africa; Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh, Brunei and Iraq in the middle and near east and Albania and Turkey in Europe.

Mr O'Brien said: "The company takes corporate social responsibility very seriously and always strives in its work to reduce inequality and injustice in society.

"An example internationally was a project in Albania, a notoriously difficult place to achieve equality for minority groups, to design and deliver a diversity programme to strategic police leaders of the Albanian National Police service in collaboration with the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

" The success of this programme then led to further work training the Albanian National Police College trainers in diversity and those college trainers subsequently developing and rolling out diversity training to all Albanian Police recruits in their initial training and current serving officers.

"These projects have embedded a philosophy in the Albanian Police service of treating all communities with dignity and respect and improving the trust and confidence of the community in their police service.

"We at 2B Leadership and Diversity believe that no matter how big the company, we can always strive to be a force for good, putting company values above mere profit and maintaining an impact in the business world which is recognised as ethical, honest and delivering quality consistently, but above all else to be cognisant of customer feedback and ensuring that customers are listened to and treated with respect and dignity."
