A HAIRDRESSING business which dates back 20 years in York is enjoying a new lease of life after moving to new premises.

Evolve Hairdressing has seen its customer base expand even further as a result of the move to its new salon in Bishopthorpe Road.

Evolve's owner, Linzi Gill, who has more than 30 years' experience of the hairdressing industry, and is entering the salon for Small Business of the Year and Retailer of the Year, feels passionately that the salon should deliver the ultimate in hair care.

Living up to its name, training is embedded in the culture at Evolve, with weekly sessions taking place to ensure all staff are completely up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques and products.

Having been trained herself at Wella academies both in the UK and abroad, Mrs Gill feels it is important to continually invest in staff training, and was herself the first hairdresser in York to achieve the Wella Colour Master award.

Three further Evolve employees now also hold this distinction, with the team of 17 staff constantly developing as apprentices are regularly taken on.

Mrs Gill said: "My staff all take enormous pride in delivering a truly excellent customer experience, and are keen to ensure clients get the results they really want, and a style they can manage themselves.

"With this in mind, listening to the customer to establish their specific needs is very much at the top of the agenda."

Mrs Gill feels strongly that keeping in contact with customers is key to business success, and makes extensive use of social media in order to do this.

The salon owner also believes in rewarding the hard work put in by her staff, who are always going the extra mile, and for Evolve's 20th anniversary she treated the whole team to a night away at the Titanic Spa near Huddersfield for a spot of well-earned pampering.

With an eye on the future, Evolve's new and more spacious premises will allow it room to grow, but Mrs Gill is determined that this will not happen at the expense of providing her customers with a pampering experience they won't forget.
