WINNING at the Press Business Awards would be the icing on the cake for husband and wife team Angela and Robert Webster.

The pair are entering the New Business of the Year category with their venture Iced Yorkshire, a specialist sugarcraft supplier selling through a website and a showroom in Stockton Lane.

Mrs Webster made her first step in cake decorating in 2002, opening ‘Angela’s Angel Cakes’ in 2008 through her love of the craft.

She has now embarked on her newest business ‘Iced Yorkshire’ which as well as retail offers cake decorating classes and demonstrations.

Mr Webster obtained an NVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration in 2012, which he is now putting into good practice in helping his wife run the venture.

They said: "We started Iced Yorkshire after seeing that there was no longer a specialist sugarcraft supplies company within the York area, even though there is still a demand for one with baking and cake decorating being a popular hobby.

"We did a large amount of research before entering the market by visiting a number of already established cake decorating and sugarcraft supplies companies, extensive internet research, carrying out market research at wedding fairs to get a feel of demand, and drawing on our own knowledge from their previous cake decorating business."

When Iced Yorkshire started they took over a unit on the Bull Commercial centre, in Stockton on the Forest, and transformed it into a shop.
