PAUL HIGGINBOTTOM was in devastating form for Hovingham in division four central as he captured six wickets for five runs to destroy Stillington.

Stillington could only muster 59 despite Neil Dale’s 25. Ali Thorpe then hit 42 not out in a nine-wicket triumph.

In contrast, Dringhouses rattled up 221-8 at Huby to take the better of a draw. The main contributors were Jacob Green, with 25, Geoff Norton, who made 52, M Corr, with an unbeaten 45, and J Woodall, who made 25.

S Fielding had 3-58 for Huby, who earned a comfortable draw at 150-4, with Ed Wright making 35.

Three good innings enabled Civil Service to total 178 when they batted first against Sheriff Hutton, whose D Sowden took 4-25 and A Byers 3-26.

Phil Northing hit 42, Nick Olney 41 and Andy Luffy 40, but then James Armitage made 37 as Sheriff drew at 130-8.

Cawood were whipped out for 79 at Duncombe Park, whose Dave Dunn had 3-7 and Bev Nicholson 3-18. Park then knocked off the runs without loss with Nick Allenby making 52 not out and Jeremy Lascelles 25 not out.

Osbaldwick beat New Earswick by five wickets. Dave Scott made 25 and D Rogers 35 in Earswick’s 132-9 as B Richo took 4-36. A Richo then followed with 50 not out to thwart the efforts of T Reeson, who took 4-29.

Jason Goldsworthy made 41 when Driffield batted first at Beverley in division four east, but home bowler Sam Welburn took 5-23 as the innings closed on 127.

Beverley then raced to a seven-wicket victory when G Taylor made 54 and Tom Hudson an unbeaten 47.
