York City announce ticket details for Sky Bet League Two play-off semi-final with Fleetwood Town

Updated in Sport

YORK City's Sky Bet League Two play-off semi-final first leg encounter at home to Fleetwood Town will be all-ticket.

Club officials said the Bootham Crescent tie on Saturday, May 10 (7.30pm kick off) would be all-ticket because of "unprecedented interest in the eagerly anticipated match".

The Bootham Crescent ticket office will open from 11am to 3pm on today for sales to season ticket holders only.

Usual ticket prices will apply and supporters have been asked to help speed up sales by paying in cash where possible. Telephone lines will not be manned on Monday.

There will be no restriction on the number of tickets season ticket holders can buy.

Season ticket holders will have priority until 11am on Tuesday, after which tickets will go on general sale and phone sales will be accepted.

From tomorrow, the ticket office will open as normal between 9am and 5pm.

Talks are still being held on details for the away leg at Fleetwood on Friday, May 16, kick off 7.45pm.

Well done to the ticket office staff for giving up their Bank Holiday. Brilliant and much appreciated. Did we see them all at the Scunnie game?

Big thanks to those who came into work on a bank holiday to sell tickets. Having queued for an hour and a half I have 2 points though;

1. It may have been a nice for our chairman to thank the queuing fans for their continued support rather than than just driving past and ignoring us all.

2. When will we move into the 21st century and have online ticket sales? Fleetwood were selling tickets for the 2nd leg online on Saturday evening which makes us look very primitive.

Started queuing at 1125 and got served at 1335. Shambolic. And judging by the size of the queue when I left people will not get to the 'windows' by 4pm. Good luck to the club staff if they have plans to still close at 3pm.Three people serving which increased to four just as I got to the window.
Suspect the queues will top the A64 Bank Holiday queues today and that there will be many disgruntled folk.
As a season ticket holder is it too much to ask for one day when tickets are on sale to them only? There were people collecting large wads of tickets.
Now we get barely a thousand tickets for Fleetwood whilst they get more than 2000 for BC. Go figure!

As it took me two and a half hours to queue up for my ticket for the home tie, goodness knows how long it will take to get a ticket for the match at Fleetwood . I think that many fans will opt to stock up with booze and watch it on the telly.

Have to say that Jason McGill did thank us who were at the from of the queue.

Point I am making is it should have been one season ticket for one match ticket....there were people walking away with wads of tickets. I see that my suggestion is being used on Thursday just a pity that we have less tickets than season ticket holders for the away match. Maybe they will use the special vouchers that are included in the season ticket book to try and safeguard the loyal season ticket holders? They certainly ought to, I mean how hard can it be to go down with your season ticket, voucher YO1 filled out and a £20 note?
Still of the opinion that ST holders deserved better than that shambles today, Christ it's 2014 and you end up queuing more than two hours.....where's the evidence of the more professional approach commercially today?

Crazy comments. Today was Season ticket holders only. I was there about the same time and it wasn't two hours. Club could have said one ticket only, but were trying to let people buy more near their seats. Queuing was a small price to pay. I suspect Fleetwood ticket office wasn't open today.

Credit to the Club for opening on a Bank Holiday. I remember queuing for 4 hours for a ticket to watch City take on Liverpool in the eighties. Great to see such wonderful demand from City supporters once again. Let's hope for a full house (home support anyway). Please, please, please, let's have a community stadium big enough to match this Club's ambitions!

I arrived at 11.15, got served at 1.30. Do you know the office sold my seat and my mates seat that we have occupied all season to someone else. I'm now in different seats close to my usual seats, but I look forward to speaking to the season ticket holder that thought it was acceptable to take the seats of another season ticket holder. Unbelievable! If you want to buy more tickets, go to the longhurst stand where you can go where you like without upsetting folk. Did this happen to anyone else?

I didn't get to the front of the Q until nearly half 2, and expected my usual seats to have already been sold having previously read in the small print saying you were not guarenteed your usual seat for such games, I did however I did get my seats.
I also purchased extra seats which may or may not have been ST holders seats, but how am I to know that until we see the reserved sticker, my point been it' not the purchasers fault ( how were they to know) but the sellers.

It's also 2014 so don't expect me to feel gratitude that people worked BH Monday. Think any nurses were working today? Or shop assistants? Cinema staff? Swimming Pool attendants?
Ridiculous.
Ever heard of the web and online sales? Seems that Fleetwood have. And you know what you can run an online service from anywhere, this one doesn't need a shiny new stadium, just some IT infrastructure.
As an ST holder of > 30 years then I don't feel grateful either, I see it as the 'perk' of being an ST holder that I can buy my seat for cup and play off games.

I was there about the same time and it wasn't two hours. Club could have said one ticket only, but were trying to let people buy more near their seats. Queuing was a small price to pay. People moaning about ticket sales are absolute low-lifes. The office did a great job. Clubs far bigger than ours often have massive queues from 7am for big games as you see on Sky Sports news reports etc.
Plus on 3 separate occasions did I see staff walk down and thank people for waiting etc and being helpful.
It upsets me that these people get tickets, if only the club could find a way to sell to people who support the club rather than berate them at every moment.

It was just for season ticket holders today,
Point I am making is it should have been one season ticket for one match ticket....there were people walking away with wads of tickets.
Stop moaning it is BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY. If they hadn't opened today many people would have had to have time off work or queue on an evening. Just be grateful (1) you've got a ticket and ( 2 ) We have staff dedicated enough to work on a Bank Holiday COME ON CITY
All those people that you mention know and accept when they take their jobs that they will have to work bank holidays. We,on the other hand have office staff who, for the benefit of the club and us fans have given up their bank holiday and are busting a gut to get the tickets sold. Yes, it is 2014 but surely you realise that for the next two years we are stuck with a 1920's stadium with 1920's infrastructure. But fortunately we have management and staff who are fighting against the odds just to keep our heads above water. They really must wonder if it is worth it when they read the letters from the whingers on here. I despair

Quite how you class folk moaning about ticket sales as 'low life' is a mystery.
For the avoidance of doubt I am not criticising the ticket office staff per se but I am critical of the club's organisation overall.
They would clearly have known the previous week that we had qualified for the Play Offs and they will clearly have arranged to open on BH Monday to give fans another day to buy, and a good thing at a that as it avoided the need for folk to take time off work etc as others have pointed out.
My point remains that ST holders don't get the treatment that they merit when it comes to these situations. I would have thought it possible for there to have been one window selling only to ST holders and a means of communicating that to supporters when arriving at the ground.. My transaction probably took 60 seconds max, trust me there were several people at the windows for several minutes and then walking away with a wad of tickets. It really is no surprise that some found that their ST seat had been sold and I'm sorry but that's just not right on those individuals.
I know that we have an ageing ground etc but lessons should be learnt but never are.
Hey just think in a couple of years time we may have the Monks Cross traffic to contend with before being able to join the queue........joke!

No queue this morning, timing is everything I suspect Thursday will be problematic anyone know how sales are going? A sell out would be immense & payback Jason & family a bit for their efforts keeping City afloat through the Conference years.
Any information about the timing for the coach travel to Fleetwood? as my eldest has school but is desperate to go.

With regard to online ticketing, I think I heard that this is in the pipeline for next season.

Not before time of course, but we can probably expect complaints about that as well, when people who have been queuing in the car park since 0700 discover that the particular seat they wanted was bought online at 0530.

Looks to me like City and Fleetwood have both done a decent job, but bear in mind Fleetwood had a week longer to organise things as they've known since April 26th that they would be away on Saturday 10th and at home on Friday 16th.

I would like to thank the staff who came in on Bank Holiday Monday. I waited over 2 hours to find that my seat had been sold. As I sit next to my son this was very disappointing and I wasn't best pleased. To their credit they managed to find me a seat just one away. Whilst I was evidently frustrated I was pleased with how they resolved this remaining polite throughout.
