A WOMAN has been sentenced for stealing from a Boots branch in York.

Jennifer Ruth Boyle, 21, was an employee of the shop at Monks Cross at the time of the offences.

She appeared before York Magistrates Court to face five charges of theft and one of fraud, and pleaded guilty to all charges.

A spokeswoman for Boots UK confirmed Boyle was working for the store when the offences took place, but had since been dismissed.

She said: “At Boots UK we take theft extremely seriously and have a zero tolerance approach to it in our stores.

“We actively work with the police and local authorities and proactively report all offences.

"There is no obligation to DBS check employees for this type of role, however, like other employers we do require references before confirming employment.”
