A PLANNING group has labelled plans for a new restaurant in York's shortest street "ridiculous".
Guildhall Planning Panel has objected to a developer's plan to turn the Mali hair salon in Whip-ma-whop-ma-gate into a restaurant with a roof terrace.

Owner Mehmet Simsek has said that if the restaurant is created, he would seek a new home for the salon.
But the planning panel has lodged an objection with City of York Council.
The panel said: "We object to this application. It is inappropriate in this location and the roof terrace is ridiculous and seating in the street will only bring about accidents and could also increase in crime as this is a very busy street 24-7."
