Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault in York want to hear from anyone who was on either Castlegate or Clifford Street on the night of the attack.
A 19-year-old woman was walking towards the old fire station in Clifford Street when she was attacked at 9pm on Thursday.
Two suspects are believed to have been involved. Both are described as Asian and aged in their mid-twenties.
One of them was very thin, with spiky hair. The second man is described as being chubby.
Det Insp Alan Rowan, of York CID, said: “If you were on either Castlegate or Clifford Street, or accessed Friargate from either direction, between 9pm and 9.30pm on Thursday, August 21, and you have not already contacted the police, it is essential that you do so straight away.
“Even if you do not believe that you witnessed anything, it is still possible you have vital information which could help my enquiries and I urge you to get in touch as soon as possible.”
Anyone who can assist the investigation should contact York CID on 101.
Alternatively, information can be emailed to yorkcid@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
