CYCLISTS will have a chance to pedal the traffic-free streets of York when Sky Ride returns to the city.
Last year, over 5,500 residents and visitors took to their bikes on the traffic-free streets of the city centre and September 14 this year will see Sky Ride return.
Sky Ride ambassador Sir Chris Hoy said: “We want more people to enjoy riding a bike – which is why Sky and British Cycling have teamed up to bring you Sky Ride. We’ve made it easier than ever to get out on your bike and spend quality time with your family and friends.
“Sky Rides close towns and cities for big bike events so you can ride safely on traffic-free streets, with a huge festival atmosphere and loads to do both on and off the bike. They are great fun and a great way to get on your bike.”
Councillor Sonja Crisp, cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, said: “Sky Ride York promises to be a great day with a stunning traffic free route around the city taking in landmarks such as the York Minster and Clifford’s Tower. There will also be lots of free activities to keep everyone entertained. With stage two of the Tour de France starting in York on July 6 there really has never been a better time to ride your bike in and around York.”
The first 1,000 people to register for the event at goskyride.com/York will also receive a limited edition Sky Ride gift on arrival at the event. Register at goskyride.com
