JUDGE has told a woman accused of causing death by dangerous driving that she could stand trial next year.
Chantelle Smith, 26, was a learner driver when she got behind the wheel of a white Vauxhall Astra that crashed on the A19 near Chapel Haddlesey on August 13, 2012.
Her back-seat passenger, Carly Dene Smith, 15, died when the Vauxhall collided with a green Ford Focus travelling in the opposite direction. The 30-year-old Ford Focus driver was seriously injured in the crash.
At the hearing at York Crown Court, a trial date was set for March 30 next year, but it is dependent on Smith’s plea, which is expected on December 1.
Smith, of Burn Caravan Site, is on unconditional bail.
