The stage is set for another sell-out show by organisers of York’s Annual Community Carol Concert at The Barbican.

Tickets are already being snapped up for the long-established family favourite, featuring the most popular carols and festive music.

York’s first Community Carol Concert was held in the Tempest Anderson Hall in 1958, when 500 people attended.

This year’s line-up includes Collavoce Choir, Tadcaster Grammar School Concert Band, the joint choirs of Haxby Road Primary Academy and St Lawrence’s C of E Primary School.

They will be joined by Steve Cassidy. brass ensemble Fanfare and vocal group Harmonix.

The event will again by hosted by Rev Andrew Foster, who will entertain the crowd with his jokes and magic tricks - while Musical Director John Warburton always encourages people to join in the community singing.

Organiser Graham Bradbury said: “We have all new people singing again and hope to sell out again. People were queuing up outside when we started selling the tickets and 100 have already been snapped up.

“We are looking at another great carol concert without an empty seat in the house.”

The concert starts at 2.30pm on Sunday, December 14.

Tickets are £7.50 (adult), £6 (child under 14 /OAP) or £24 for a family ticket (two adults and two children) including a free carol sheet and programme.
