A NEW cook school was officially opened by an illustrious line-up of chefs who will be teaching there.
Guests at the open day at Cooks, the Carlton School of Food, were introduced to the school's team of chefs and bakers, before receiving a tour around the school based in the original kitchens at Carlton Towers, near Selby.
Set among 250 acres of parkland, the ancestral home belongs to the Duke of Norfolk’s family and is home to the Duke's brother and sister-in-law, Lord and Lady Gerald Fitzalan Howard, who led the tour.
The school is looking for all food enthusiasts to pay them a visit, whether the want to cook, grow, write or even photograph food and welcomes chefs of all abilities.
In August renowned chef James Holden, who has worked at the Savoy and Gleneagles, will be joining the school.
He will join the other leading chefs at Cooks, including Richard Walton-Allen, a much-respected chef with more than 20 years’ experience working in the food industry, and a former winner of the‘Good Food Guide Award’ and ‘Yorkshire Life Chef of the Year’.
Former executive sous chef at the Ritz Hotel in London, Adam Smith, will also be teaching at the school while award-winning artisan chocolatier Fiona Sciolti, we will be offering two classes.
The school is now offering Spring and Summer courses, with many running throughout May, including 'Better Baking' with Great British Bake Off Finalist Brendan Lynch, and 'Eat Like a Local: A Tuscan Summer’s Day with Elaine Lemm.'
