A TEENAGER has been charged with assaulting a police officer after an incident in Acomb.
North Yorkshire Police were called to Front Street at about 5.30pm yesterday, after reports that a gang of youths were behaving anti-socially outside Superdrug.
The officer found a group of youths in the Acomb Kebab House in Front Street, and one of them punched him in the face. The 17-year-old boy was arrested at the scene.
A police spokesman said the officer suffered facial injuries and was taken to York Hospital for a check-up.
The youth is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 4.
