JASON Golden collected his March Player of the Month award last night, as voted for by Evening Press readers.

Everyone who voted went into a hat to win two match tickets and the chance to present the award. That prize was won by Paul Cooper, of York, but he was unable to attend last night's game, so in his stead was his friend, Rebecca Seaman.

Golden did not play in last week's National League One opener at Widnes due to injury but his lead in the Evening Press/Collier Plant Hire Player of the Year standings remained intact prior to last night as none of his closest rivals picked up points that day.

Neil Law was the man of the match last night to jump above Rhodes in the standings.

Bench-men James Elston (2pts) and Golden (1pt) still added to their tally though and the three now lead the way.

Two-try winger Craig Farrell (3pts) took top marks at Widnes after being the Press' man of the match, while Dave Buckley (2pts), who came into the second row in place of Golden, got himself onto the leaderboard for a big-hitting display, which gave boss Mick Cook a nice selection headache on Golden's return from injury.

Law (1pt), who provided the 'moment of the match' with his 60-yard surge to set up Farrell's first try, got the remainder.

Stand-off Scott Rhodes' good form was continuing before he left the field against Widnes injured. He was the man of the match (3pts) in the previous week's cup win at Swinton to jump joint-second, while improving prop Dean O'Loughlin (2pts) collected his first points. The remainder that day also went to Law (1pt).

Latest standings: Golden 14pts, Elston 9, Law 8, Rhodes 7, Blaymire 5, Farrell 5, Spicer 4, Bates 3, Smith 3, Hasty 2, O'Loughlin 2, Buckley 2, Forsyth 1, Bovill 1.

THE winner of the two National League One season-tickets to the Knights was Liam Jackson, of Stockton on the Forest. There was a bumper entry into our competition, all of whom correctly answered that Mick Cook won the NL2 Coach of the Year award in 2005. Liam's name was the one drawn out of a hat.

The Supporters' Club are holding a 'Fans Knight' on Wednes-day at Haxby Working Men's Club starting at 7.30pm. Match footage will shown on a big screen, and there will be a quiz and raffle. Admission is free and some players will be there.
