YORK City Knights are likely to be without their dual-registered starlets for Sunday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup tie at the behest of the players’ parent clubs.

Hull have already stated Chris Green, who has three tries in four appearances for York, and fellow forward Laurence Pearce will not be allowed to play for the Knights as they take on amateurs Hull Dockers in the third-round match at Huntington Stadium.

The Super League outfit do not want the youngsters cup-tied in case they need either to play later on in the competition.

This means Pearce will have to wait again to make his York debut. He was being lined up to feature for the first time in last Sunday’s defeat to Halifax but missed training due to illness and instead turned out for Hull’s under-20s.

Warrington Wolves have yet to confirm if they are set to do likewise with Ben Hellewell and Brooke Broughton.

However, The Press understands the Knights would not be surprised if they too are withdrawn.

Sunday’s tie is an all-pay game as season tickets and vice-presidents passes do not count for knockout cup matches.

Last season’s rule allowing season-ticket holders into a club’s first Challenge Cup tie of the season no longer applies at any Championship or Super League club.

Vice-residents who wish to book a pre-match meal can do so at a discounted rate of £5 by phoning the Knights on 01904 767404. Anyone wishing to access Bar 13 before the turnstiles open at 1.30pm will need to pre-purchase a match ticket on the above number.

Tickets must be bought before noon on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Knights will hold their latest “coach the coaches”

session on Tuesday, April 10. More than 20 coaches from local amateur clubs and colleges have attended previous workshops at Huntington Stadium, organised by community development officer Jack Stearman.

It is hoped Knights assistant-bosses Mick Ramsden and Mick Cook will join Stearman and player-boss Chris Thorman, plus some first-team players, at the upcoming event.

Anyone interested in attending can phone Stearman on 01904 767404 or email jack@ycknights.co.uk for more details.
