YORK City Knights edged past Gateshead Thunder 26-22 at Huntington Stadium to maintain their 100 per cent start to the Northern Rail Cup.
The Knights, who survived the late sending off of Adam Howard, scored tries through Brett Turner, Joe Hemmings (2) and Chris Green (2), while Tom Bush kicked three goals.
Gateshead's try scorers included former York players Mike Mitchell (2) and Tom Hodgson.
York are second in their Northern Rail Cup pool on points difference behind Sheffield Eagles, the team they meet on Friday in the last group game.
