York City Knights half-back Paul Thorman has been signed up by London Skolars after moving to the capital.

Thorman, who turns 24 on Thursday, received the official top scorer award at the club's recent presentation ceremony after kicking 32 goals and adding a try in his 15 appearances last term.

He had a patchy start to the season but came back in impressive form to win over several critics in the stands and earn a contract offer for next season.

However, a move to London for business reasons has seen Thorman join National League Two Skolars, setting up a return to Huntington Stadium next year for the visitors.

Said Knights head coach Mick Cook: "He struggled a little bit but he came back and did really well - his kicking was great as was his tactical kicks and he finished pretty strong.

"We were hoping to keep him on next year but with him moving to London it would be a bit much to travel and he'll be a good signing for them. We wish him all the best."

His departure leaves a notable potential gap in both the points column and the half-backs department but Cook is not fearing a kicking crisis at the club with three proven kickers already signed up for next season and a fourth in talks.

Ex-Leeds Rhinos academy half-back Danny Grimshaw, back Lee Lingard and new recruit George Raynor are all strong kickers.

Contract talks are also ongoing with 2006 third-top scorer Jonny Liddell, who kicked 22 last term.
