York City Knights fans are being urged to get their tickets quickly for the club’s Carnegie Challenge Cup fourth round clash with Hull KR next month.

The Knights have been informed by Hull KR that they have sold out their 1,500 strong allocation for the match at Huntington Stadium on Sunday, May 8, and the club want to give York fans the opportunity to stake their claim.

Knights general manager Ian Wilson has revealed Hull KR could easily account for a similar number of tickets – with their fans able to go to the game for free because, under an RFL agreement, season ticket holders are entitled to complimentary tickets for the first Challenge Cup encounter.

With Hull KR having 6,000 season ticket holders, and with Huntington Stadium set to have a capacity of around 4,000 for the match, Wilson has urged Knights fans to snap up seats.

Around 600 Knights supporters have so far come forward, and Wilson revealed non-Hull KR season ticket holders are now making inquiries to the ticket office in a bid to attend the game.

Wilson said the Knights fans had around a fortnight to snap up a spot before the club considered sending extra tickets to their Super League opponents.

He said: “Hull KR have sold their allocation and, if we sent them that amount again, they would comfortably get rid of that number.

“I would urge Knights fans not to leave it to a week or a fortnight to the game before getting their tickets.

“We are getting calls from Hull, from people who aren’t season ticket holders, who want to get tickets direct from us. It’s a big game for the club. It is probably the biggest the Knights have had at home. People in York are used to being able to pay on the day and, for this game, they probably won’t be able to.”

Tickets are £15 adults, £12 concessions and £7 for under-16s in seating areas, and £13 adults, £10 concessions and £5 U16s to stand. They can be bought in person from the Roland Court office or by phoning 01904 767404.

A 50p charge will be added to tickets purchased on a credit or debit card and a £1 charge is payable for any tickets posted out.

Supporters can also send a cheque, made payable to York City Knights, with a note detailing tickets required and a stamped addressed envelope to: York City Knights, Roland Court, Huntington Road, York, YO32 9PW.
