YORK-born flier Peter Fox has been named among the first batch of players in the England train-on squad.
The former York City Knights record try-scorer, a product of York Acorn RLFC, who is now with Hull KR, is one of 13 players so far picked.
These players come from clubs who have finished outside the top six in Super League and so are not involved in the forthcoming play-offs. Further players will be added as their clubs are knocked out.
Fox scored a try in Sunday’s 36-8 derby win against Hull which meant Rovers finished the campaign in seventh place.
The final 24-man squad to compete in the Rugby League World Cup will be named on October 7.
England’s next match is the Gillette Fusion International against Wales at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium on Friday, October 10.
