YORK Knights star Ata Hingano has been named as the Rugby League World Championship Player of the Month for June.
Hingano has enjoyed a standout 2024 campaign for York so far this season, becoming an integral part of the squad whilst operating in the hooker role.
The 27-year-old has featured three times throughout June, starting twice under newly-appointed Head Coach Mark Applegarth, and featuring in both victories for the Knights’ new boss.
A 22-18 defeat to Widnes Vikings began the month, in what was Andrew Henderson’s final match as Head Coach, before a dominant 40-0 triumph over Dewsbury Rams followed.
Hingano was able to add two tries during the match, going on to earn eight of the 40 points for York as they claimed a much-needed first win under the tutelage of Applegarth.
The good form was followed up in the Knights’ historic 34-24 victory over Featherstone Rovers, the first time York had defeated their opponents on their own soil in 67 years, with Hingano again playing a crucial role.
Another try for Hingano saw the former Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils star add four points in the Knights’ win.
Rugby League World have also named their Team of the Month for June, which includes a place for attacker Oli Field after an influential month for the youngster, who also made three appearances throughout June.

Involved in the Rugby League World Betfred Women's Super League Team of the Month is Eboni Partington, who has also been rewarded with her effort by being called-up by the England squad ahead of their game with France.
Partington, who joined from St Helens in November, has taken part in recent thumping victories for the Valkyrie over Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants.
