BOTH York Knights and York Valkyrie have named their preliminary squad ahead of this weekend’s round of games.

The Knights will travel to Swinton Lions on the hunt for back-to-back victories for the first time of their Betfred Championship season, after a 40-18 triumph over Halifax Panthers last Sunday.

Head coach Andrew Henderson has named two changes to his York side, with Tom Lineham and Jack Teanby both dropping out of the squad.

Oli Field returns after overcoming an illness that kept him out of the Halifax victory, whilst Will Dagger makes his comeback following a one-match suspension due to dissent.

Ata Hingano remains in the squad despite being hit with a potential suspension, receiving a Grade E charge for dangerous Head Contact.

Hingano could miss up to three to five matches of the Knights’ season, with a tribunal hearing set to take place next Tuesday.

Duo Davy Litten and Franklin Pele remain in the York ranks after both joining the Knights on an initial two-week loan deal from Betfred Super League outfit Hull FC.

With that in mind, Anfield has made seven changes to her Valkyrie squad, as Bettie Lambert and Georgia Taylor are re-integrated following loan stints at Featherstone Rovers.

Sian Judd and Agnes Wood both make potential debuts after joining on a dual registration from Sheffield Eagles, whilst Izzy Brennan, Manuqalo Komaitai and Lauren Exley are involved for the first time this year.

Kelsey Gentles, Georgie Hetherington, Ashleigh Hyde, Eva Izumi, Rhiannion Marshall, Tamzin Renouf, Tara Jane Stanley are all absent from the squad.
