YORK Knights' Ata Hingano could face a lengthy suspension after being hit with a Grade E charge for head contact.
Hingano, who has been starring in the half-back position as of late, could face up to a five game suspension should the 27-year-old be deemed guilty of the offence.
An alleged illegal challenge in the 40-18 victory over Halifax Panthers on Sunday will see Hingano's punishment be referred to a tribunal, with a decision set to be announced on Tuesday.
The suspension won't begin until next week, meaning that Hingano will be available for selection in the Knights' Betfred Championship clash with Swinton Lions at Heywood Road, on Sunday, May 26 (3pm).
A Grade E charge could result in a three to five game ban for Hingano, who has impressed as of late playing in a half-back position.
Hingano joins a long list of Knights players punished for their disciplinary throughout the 2024 season, with Will Dagger, Nikau Williams, Jesse Dee and Jordy Thompson all previously serving suspensions.
