CONNOR ROBINSON has signed a new deal for 2020 with York City Knights.

The influential half-back was a key figure in the Knights' march to the League One title in a glittering 2018 and carried that good form into 2019, helping the Knights to their current second-placed position in the Betfred Championship.

York face rivals Bradford Bulls on Sunday at Bootham Crescent (3pm).

Knights head coach James Ford said: “I’m really pleased that Connor has decided to re-sign with York. He’s played an important role in the development of the team and club since he came here.

“I believe Connor is one of the country’s best young half-backs and if he continues to strive for improvement on and off the field, I’m positive he will continue to develop.”

The 24-year-old initially came through the academy ranks at Hull KR and made his Super League debut against London Broncos in 2014, before moving to Halifax in 2015 after impressing on dual registration. He joined the Knights midway through 2017 on a two-and-a-half year deal, and went on to score points in every one of his first 30 appearances.

Robinson was named the League One Player of the Year for 2017, as well as the Knights Supporters Club Player of the Year, York Press Player of the Year and Player’s Player of the Year and, more recently, the Active York Sports Person of the Year.

After scoring an incredible 404 points in 27 appearances in League One, he has notched 195 points in 20 appearances after 21 rounds in the Betfred Championship.

Meanwhile, Knights 2020 season ticket renewals are on sale now, with prices frozen until July 31.
