ON loan packman Harry Aldous will not be allowed to play for York City Knights against his parent club this weekend.

The Knights take on Newcastle Thunder in the second round of the new 1895 Cup competition at Bootham Crescent on Sunday (3pm).

Aldous - younger brother of former York captain Jack - arrived on loan in the Minster city a fortnight ago from the Tynesiders, but it was on the understanding he would sit out this fixture.

Fellow loanee Tyler Dupree, the Leeds Rhinos teenager, is a likely replacement in the pack after being left out of last Sunday's Championship win at Widnes, while Jack Blagbrough may also return to the 17. Fellow prop Ronan Dixon is still out with a knee injury.

Boss James Ford said of Aldous: "They're not letting him play. We knew that when we signed him and I understand where Newcastle are coming from."

Newcastle, after losing 32-18 to Hunslet last weekend, currently sit fifth in League One with four wins and four defeats from nine fixtures.

The winners of this tie go into the quarter-finals, with the final to be played at Wembley ahead of the Challenge Cup final on August 24.
