Man of the match: Joe Porter – brought some energy into the middle unit, typified by his super solo try late on and even later second, which, in summing up York’s day, was chalked off.
Referee: Billy Pearson (Wakefield) – okay.
Half-time: 14-0
Weather: fresh and dry.
Attendance: TBC
Moment of the match: The game was long gone but Joe Porter scored an excellent try for York, charging through from 25 metres, brushing off a couple of men and getting the ball down under the sticks under pressure.
Gaffe of the match: this was far from an error-free performance from the Knights and they were made to pay for it. To single any out would be a bit churlish but Liam Harris will not be happy with how he fluffed a kick, putting a try on a plate for Tom Holmes, although kicker Dane Chisholm had been given plenty of time to send a spiralling bomb skyward
Gamebreaker: York, 14-0 down after the two quick-fire tries just before half-time, needed to score first in the second period to have a chance, but the number of errors and penalties meant this was never likely to happen and instead Rovers hit them with a 15-minute five-try blitz.
Match rating: just like at Easter, this was good stuff from Featherstone and, for half the game at least, not particularly good stuff from York. It resulted in a summer bashing at the Summer Bash.
