YORK City Knights have been shortlisted for three gongs at the 2019 Active York Sports Awards next month.

The reigning League One champions, currently flying high in the Championship, are nominated for Club of the Year, while half-back Connor Robinson, the League One Player of the Year, and James Ford, the division's Coach of the Year, have been nominated for Sportsperson and Coach of the Year respectively.

The Knights’ recognition comes not only for their accomplishments on the field in the last 12 months but also for their engagement in various ways with the local community.

The awards - in their sixth year - are organised by Active York, the city’s sport and active leisure partnership, which works to encourage people to be more active more often.

The ceremony, to be hosted by BBC Sport’s Tanya Arnold, will take place in the University of York’s Roger Kirk Centre on June 26.

Tickets to the event, which include a three-course meal, raffle and awards presentation, cost £40 per person. Email info@thirstcommunications.co.uk for details.
