YORK City Knights player-coach Paul March reckons Matt Danville will "take National League Two by storm" - not unlike 19-try winger Lee Mapals.

The 23-year-old BARLA Great Britain centre has agreed terms at Huntington Stadium, as has another Hull-born rising star, Richard Brown, who has been playing Down Under in the Jersey Flegg competition.

Danville currently plays for Skirlaugh, who are unbeaten in the National Conference premier division, and March, who has seen him in action while coaching fellow amateurs Thornhill, is sure he can make the step up.

"He has all the honours in the amateur game and is looking forward to the new challenge," he said.

"I really think the kid has got the potential to go all the way. We're going to give him a chance and I think he will be grateful for that. I think he will take this division by storm. People have told me about Lee Mapals coming from the amateur game and successfully making the step up. I think this kid will do the same."

Brown, 22, a former BARLA Under-18s international, returns to England after two years of Country rugby league in Australia. He comes to York on the recommendation of ex-Hull KR coach Gary Wilkinson.

March said: "Gary's a great judge, so hopefully Richard will be a good asset."
