YORK City Knights' big 2019 season opener against Toronto Wolfpack on Sunday will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Arena, it has been confirmed.

It was revealed last week that the game, the first of the promoted Knights' Betfred Championship campaign, would be shown by the satellite broadcaster as part of a package to air every match of the full-time Canadian club's season.

The specific channel has now been confirmed, with the programme being aired from the 3pm kick-off to 5pm.

A bumper crowd is already expected for the Bootham Crescent occasion, when James Ford’s troops will seek to start their return to the second division with a bang, repeating their shock League One win over the otherwise unbeaten third-tier champions in 2017.

Toronto, featuring several former Super League and NRL stars, topped the Championship table last season but lost the 'Million Pound' promotion game to London Broncos and are heavy favourites to go one better this term under four-time Super League-winning coach Brian McDermott.

Aside Toronto matches, the Rugby Football League has also agreed a new deal with Sky to broadcast more Championship and League One matches, with play-offs and the 'Million Pound' promotion game to be shown on TV and other league games broadcast via the Our League web and app platforms.

Tickets on Sunday are £17 for adults, £12 for concessions and free for under-16s.
