ROB Spicer feels York City Knights have "turned a corner" as they look to keep that winning feeling alive at Hunslet Hawks tomorrow.

Spicer, man of the match in last week's 14-4 win over Barrow Raiders and The Press player of the month for June, says the Knights should look to win all their remaining Co-operative National League Two games - starting at the John Charles Stadium.

Spicer, who will be pressed into service as an emergency stand-off, revealed the squad has been in buoyant mood this week following that impressive victory and said it was now time for the Knights to kick on to climb the league table.

"Barrow was a very good game and it just happened to come at the right time for us," he said. "Against Celtic Crusaders, we felt we were doing well and it was a good performance from every player on the field against Barrow. Hopefully, we can keep it going.

"At the minute, I am pleased with the way I am playing. Although any one of us could have got the man-of-the-match award because of the performance last week.

"We should win all our games now. All the teams (apart from Hunslet and next home opponents Oldham) are below us and we should be looking at taking every game. Hunslet are a tricky side. They are strong and obviously we've still got injuries so it is always going to be tough - especially at Hunslet.

"But we'll be going in there and shouldn't fear any of these teams. Every game, we should be confident."

Spicer added the players had grown stronger during their recent spell of four matches without a win and through a disappointing campaign, which saw some sections of the club's supporters voice unhappiness at the standard of performances.

"It has been good to go into a training session this week and everyone is upbeat and smiling. We've turned a corner. I just wish it had happened a bit sooner. The players are sticking together - a lot of the players have taken a lot of stick this season," he said.

"It would have been quite easy for them to turn their backs but we've shown good strength of character. In previous weeks, the performance hasn't quite been there but I feel we have turned a corner and we need to kick on from here."

Boss Mick Cook has been hit by a triple injury blow with prop Adam Sullivan joining half-back pairing Scott Rhodes and Danny Grimshaw on the sidelines.

Spicer and Jonny Liddell take over at stand-off and scrum-half, while Johnny Waldron returns on the wing.

A major reshuffle of the pack sees Jimmy Elston move to hooker, Dave Buckley to prop, with Nathan Priestley and Stephen Grundy forming the second row, and Ryan Esders at loose forward.

Cook said: "We've lost our half-backs and our most consistent prop so it's not good news but you've got to get over it and move on.

"We've got a team to go there and we expect to win. We had more attitude about us last week and defended really well, so we've got to keep that going.

"We have been competing with most teams. We just have to go there and play our game."
