YORK City Knights coach James Ford is awaiting news on a quartet of injured players in the build-up to Sunday’s Kingstone Press League One clash with Coventry.
Colton Roche, Kriss Brining, Ryan Mallinder and Liam Cunningham are struggling with knocks in the wake of the club’s 44-14 Challenge Cup victory over Leigh Miners.
Ford, whose side were rewarded for that win with a last-16 trip to Super League champions St Helens, said the biggest doubts were Roche (thumb) and Mallinder (dead leg).
“Colton will probably miss out,” he said. “He’s carried a minor knock and we needed him to play against Leigh Miners. We may need to give him a couple of week’s rest. Liam’s calf injury is the most concerning for us.”
Ford was hopeful that Mallinder (dead leg) and Brining (hand) would all be available to face Coventry at Clifton Park. He added: “Kris will be fine and Ryan is a tough bloke.”
