York City’s annual youth team dinner provided another great night’s entertainment at the Park Inn Hotel on Thursday.

Guest speaker Mickey Quinn entertained just under 200 diners with tales of his colourful career, including the dilemma he faced when he was sold to struggling Coventry mid-season having put £100 at 8-1 on the Sky Blues to be relegated earlier in the campaign.

Comedian Dom Thomas also brought the house down with a great array of one-liners, starting with a gag about the Carlos Tevez DVD that he couldn’t get to play.

Jamie Reed, meanwhile, can seemingly do no wrong at the moment.

Following his recent scoring exploits, he won countless calls of heads and tails between all the attending guests to win a Sunday lunch for four people at Burn Hall.

The evening was again a credit to organiser Sarah Andrew, the apprentices’ parents and other volunteers and details of how much money was raised by the dinner will be released shortly.

City boss Gary Mills will field questions from supporters as a guest of York Minstermen at the Pitchside Bar on Thursday night. Everybody is welcome, although under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.

The bar will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
